Petrasch Alkaline Powder Capsules are a food supplement containing 600 mg of alkaline powder and acidophilus lactic acid bacteria.
For all physiological processes in the body to function optimally, human blood must remain within a narrow, slightly alkaline pH range (pH 7.35–7.45). If the pH value falls below 7.35 – i.e. if it is too acidic – this is referred to as acidosis. In principle, the body very quickly restores the acid-base balance through the blood’s buffer system, through respiration and through excretion via the kidneys. Blood acidosis, in which the blood’s pH falls below 7.35, is a life-threatening metabolic disturbance requiring urgent medical intervention. Preceding blood acidosis and not acutely dangerous is latent connective-tissue acidosis, in which the alkaline buffer capacity of the tissues is severely strained. Latent connective tissue acidosis is blamed for many lifestyle-related diseases. It is caused by a range of environmental factors; diet and stress, in particular, influence this acid-base balance. Diet is of particular importance, as it contains substances that form acids or bases in the body. The Western diet tends to contain more acid-forming than base-forming substances; this is particularly true of a diet rich in animal products, especially meat. A balanced diet, supplemented with alkaline dietary supplements, supports and facilitates this balancing process.
Petrasch Alkaline Powder is a balanced blend of alkaline minerals and Lactobacillus acidophilus. It comes in capsule form and can be taken without any problems, even by those with a sensitive palate.
With most alkalising powders on the market, the effect is ‘wasted’ in the stomach: the alkaline substances are neutralised by stomach acid. In cases of acute heartburn, this effect is certainly desirable. However, it is not ideal for balancing the acid-alkaline equilibrium. Furthermore, neutralising the stomach acid stimulates the production of additional stomach acid, which is generally undesirable. Thanks to our innovative acid-resistant capsules, the contents are only released in the gut. This ensures maximum effectiveness.
Like all Petrasch products, Petrasch Alkaline Powder works as a system. The zinc it contains also contributes to normal acid-base metabolism.
Ingredients and effects
- Alkaline minerals: Sodium bicarbonate, potassium bicarbonate, calcium L(+)-lactate, calcium hydrogen phosphate, magnesium citrate, calcium citrate and zinc citrate are alkaline minerals.
- Lactobacillus acidophilus is a type of lactic acid bacterium. This bacterium occurs naturally in the gut and on the mucous membranes.
- Zinc contributes to normal acid-base balance. It contributes to the normal function of the immune system and protects cells from oxidative stress. Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal bones, hair and nails. It helps maintain normal testosterone levels in the blood, as well as normal fertility and reproduction. Zinc contributes to normal carbohydrate and fatty acid metabolism. It also contributes to normal cognitive function.
