Purely plant-based arginine

• L-arginine (also known as arginine) is one of the protein-forming, positively charged and therefore basic amino acids. It is semi-essential, has a high nitrogen content (NO) and is involved in many biological processes. Many foods contain L-arginine: nuts, pulses, fish, meat and dairy products are particularly rich in it. An arginine-containing dietary supplement is also a good way to ensure an adequate intake.
• Avitale Arginine Plus film-coated tablets contain high-quality L-arginine base, derived from purely plant-based raw materials, which has been effectively combined with folic acid and vitamins B1, B6 and B12.
• Vitamin B1, also known as thiamine, plays an important role in heart health and contributes to normal heart function. It also supports energy metabolism.
• Vitamins B6 and B12 contribute to the formation of red blood cells and support normal homocysteine metabolism. Vitamin B6 is beneficial for protein and glycogen metabolism, as well as for cysteine synthesis.
• Folic acid is an essential vitamin that the body cannot produce itself. It contributes to blood formation, plays a vital role in cell division and also contributes to normal homocysteine metabolism.

Not all arginine is the same

• To find the right arginine supplement, it is essential to consider the different grades of arginine and how they are produced. When it comes to the amino acid arginine, a distinction is usually made between arginine base and arginine hydrochloride.
• Arginine base is very pure and consists of at least 98 per cent arginine. In accordance with international standards, its pH value is between 10.5 and 12, meaning that arginine base is considered very easily digestible. Only the base form can be produced by fermentation, i.e. through the conversion of starchy products by enzymes and bacteria. Various types of cereal are usually used as the base material; the raw material for the arginine base in Avitale Arginine Plus film-coated tablets is maize or tapioca.
• In contrast, arginine hydrochloride, or arginine HCl, is obtained from protein-containing materials by extraction with hydrochloric acid. Human or animal hair of any kind, or alternatively poultry feathers, are very frequently used for this purpose. The purity of this grade is normally between 75% and 80% arginine, with a pH value of 6 to 6.5; it is therefore considered acidic and is often less easily digestible.

Directions for use

• Take 2 film-coated tablets twice daily (morning and evening) with meals, with plenty of water, without chewing.
• Notes: No studies are currently available regarding use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. People taking medication to lower blood pressure, thin the blood or enhance sexual potency should consult their doctor before taking arginine tablets at the same time. This also applies to other preparations that affect nitric oxide (NO) metabolism. It is also advisable to avoid taking arginine during an acute herpes infection.

• Ingredients: L-arginine base from purely plant-based raw materials, bulking agent: microcrystalline cellulose, coating agent: hydroxypropyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, microcrystalline cellulose, stearic acid, colouring agents: titanium dioxide, yellow iron oxide, red iron oxide; anti-caking agents: tricalcium phosphate and magnesium salts of fatty acids; cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12), pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), thiamine hydrochloride (vitamin B1), pteroylmonoglutamic acid (folic acid).
