Pure plant-based arginine

• L-arginine (also known as arginine) is one of the protein-producing, positively charged and therefore basic amino acids. It is semi-essential, has a high nitrogen content (NO) and is involved in many biological processes. Many foods contain L-arginine: nuts, pulses, fish, meat and dairy products are rich in it. A dietary supplement containing arginine is also a good way of ensuring a good supply.
• Avitale Arginine plus film-coated tablets contain high-quality L-arginine base, obtained from purely plant-based raw materials, which has been sensibly combined with folic acid and vitamins B1, B6 and B12.
• Vitamin B1, also known as thiamine, has an important function for heart health and contributes to normal heart function. It also supports energy metabolism.
• Vitamins B6 and B12 contribute to the formation of red blood cells and contribute to normal homocysteine metabolism. Vitamin B6 is helpful for protein and glycogen metabolism as well as for cysteine synthesis.
• Folic acid is an essential vitamin that the body cannot produce itself. It contributes to haematopoiesis, has an essential function in cell division and also contributes to normal homocysteine metabolism.

Not all arginine is the same

• In order to find the right arginine supplement, it is essential to take a look at the different arginine qualities and how they are produced. A distinction is usually made between the amino acid arginine, arginine base and arginine hydrochloride.
• Arginine base is very pure and consists of at least 98% arginine. According to international standards, the pH value is 10.5 to 12, which means that arginine base is very easily digestible. Only the base can be produced by fermentation, i.e. by converting starchy products using enzymes and bacteria. Different types of grain are usually used as the raw material; the raw material for the arginine base in Avitale Arginine plus film-coated tablets is maize or tapioca.
• In contrast, arginine hydrochloride or arginine HCl is obtained by extraction with hydrochloric acid from protein-containing substances. Human or animal hair of any kind or, alternatively, poultry feathers are very often used for this. The purity of this quality is normally between 75% and 80% arginine and a pH value of 6 to 6.5, making it acidic and often less digestible.

• 2 x daily (morning and evening) take 2 film-coated tablets with meals with plenty of water without chewing.
• Advice: No studies are available to date for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. People who are taking medication to lower blood pressure, thin the blood or increase potency should consult their doctor before taking arginine tablets at the same time. This also applies to other preparations that interfere with nitric oxide (NO) metabolism. It is also advisable to avoid taking arginine if you have an acute herpes infection.
