The addition of Aptamil FMS adapts the natural nutrient content of breast milk to the special nutritional requirements of premature babies by enriching it with extensive protein hydrolysate, carbohydrates, minerals, trace elements and vitamins. Adding 4.0 g of Aptamil FMS to 100 ml of breast milk increases the energy content by 15 kcal to approx. 80 kcal.
According to current scientific recommendations, breast milk for premature babies should be fortified at least until the expected date of birth and, if necessary, up to 3 months after this date. Please follow the exact recommendations of your hospital aftercare team or paediatrician regarding the quantity and duration of feeding this supplement. This will ensure that your baby receives all the important nutrients as well as sufficient energy for the final spurt of "catch-up growth".

How to use
Follow the instructions for use exactly when preparing FMS. Improper preparation and storage can lead to health problems due to the growth of unwanted germs.
- Wash your hands and sterilise all utensils according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Check the best-before date before use (see top of packaging)
- Pour the required amount of breast milk into a sterilised bottle or feeding utensil.
- Add the contents of one sachet (1 g) to 25 ml of warm breast milk (approx. 37°C). If less milk is available, reduce the amount of powder accordingly to avoid overdosing. If less than 1 sachet is used, weigh the powder with a laboratory balance, if available, under strictly hygienic conditions.
- Stir carefully until the powder is completely dissolved.
- Use the mixture of breast milk and Aptamil FMS immediately or in accordance with hospital guidelines for handling fortified breast milk.
Important notes: For hygiene reasons, do not store prepared portions. Prepare each portion as required and always dispose of leftovers within 2 hours or in accordance with hospital guidelines for handling fortified breastmilk. Infants should always be supervised during feeding.
