- For the treatment and prevention of flea infestations (Ctenocephalides felis, Ctenocephalides canis) and for the treatment of hair lice infestations (Trichodectes canis) in dogs.
- The fleas on the dog are killed within one day of treatment and a single treatment provides protection against new flea infestations for four weeks.
- The veterinary medicinal product can be used as part of a strategy to treat flea allergic dermatitis (FAD) caused by flea bites. The veterinary medicinal product has a sustained killing and repellent effect against ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus and Ixodes ricinus for four weeks and Dermacentor recticulatus for three weeks).
- Due to the repellent effect and the killing of the vector tick Rhipicephalus sanguineus, the veterinary medicinal product reduces the probability of transmission of the pathogen Ehrlichia canis and thus reduces the risk of monocytic ehrlichiosis in dogs. The reduced risk was demonstrated by studies starting on the third day after application of the veterinary medicinal product over a period of four weeks.
- It is possible that ticks already present on the dog at the time of treatment are not killed within 2 days of treatment and remain attached and visible. Therefore, ticks should be removed at the time of treatment to prevent attachment and bloodsucking.
- A single treatment provides a repellent (anti-feeding) effect against butterfly mosquitoes (Phlebotomus papatasi for a fortnight and Phlebotomus perniciosus for three weeks), against mosquitoes (Aedes aegypti for a fortnight and Culex pipiens for four weeks) and against biting flies (Stomoxys calcitrans for four weeks).
- To reduce the risk of infection by the pathogen Leishmania infantum transmitted by sand flies (Phlebotomus perniciosus) over a period of up to 3 weeks. This effect is due to the indirect action of the veterinary medicinal product against the vector.
- P. perniciosus - 3 weeks
- P. papatasi - 2 weeks
- A. aegypti - 2 weeks
- C. pipiens - 4 weeks
- S. calcitrans - 4 weeks
- Easy to use, monthly application.
- Recommended by vets.
- Also effective after bathing and swimming**. (** However, prolonged and intense soaking should be avoided. Frequent soaking can shorten the duration of effect).
- Advantix® for dogs kills fleas, ticks and hair lice on contact with the skin or coat. This means that the parasites do not have to bite your dog for the active ingredient to become active.
Dosage form
How to use
- The recommended minimum dose is 10 mg/kg body weight of imidacloprid and 50 mg/kg body weight of permethrin.
- Dosage: Dog (kg body weight) over 10 kg up to 25 kg: 2.5 ml volume - imidacloprid (mg/kg body weight) 10 - 25 - permethrin (mg/kg body weight) 50 - 125.
- To reduce the possibility of re-infestation by fleas, it is recommended that all dogs in a household are treated. Other animals living in the same household should also be treated with suitable veterinary products. In addition, treatment of the environment with a suitable product against fleas and their developmental stages is recommended to reduce flea pressure in the environment.
- Even if the dog gets wet, the veterinary medicine retains its effectiveness. However, prolonged and intensive soaking should be avoided. Frequent soaking can shorten the duration of action. Repeat treatment should not be carried out more frequently than weekly. If the dog needs to be shampooed, this should be done before Advantix is applied or at the earliest two weeks afterwards in order to maximise the effectiveness of the veterinary medicinal product.
- In the case of hair lice infestation, a review of the success of the treatment by the vet is recommended 30 days after treatment, as a second treatment may be necessary in some animals.
- In order to protect a dog throughout the entire sand fly season, treatment should be continuous and uninterrupted.
- Pipette with short neck: Remove one pipette from the pack. Hold the pipette vertically upwards. Twist the sealing cap, pull it off, place it upside down on the pipette and twist it until the seal breaks. Then remove the sealing cap from the pipette again.
- For dogs with a body weight of 10 kg or less: The dog should stand still. Part the coat between the shoulder blades until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the pipette on the skin and press firmly several times to empty the contents directly onto the skin.
- For dogs over 10 kg body weight: The dog should stand still. The entire contents of the pipette should be evenly distributed over four points along the dog's back, from the shoulder to the base of the tail. Part the coat at each of these points until the skin is visible. Place the tip of the pipette on the skin and press gently to drip some of the solution directly onto the skin.
- Exclusively for dripping onto the skin.
- Only apply to intact skin.
- To prevent the active ingredient solution from running down the side of the animal, the amount of solution applied per application site should not be too large.
