APOfit Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) powder is a food supplement containing vitamin C to support the normal function of the immune system.

Vitamin C (water-soluble), also known as ascorbic acid, is probably the best known of all vitamins. It is mainly found in fresh vegetables, is involved in many metabolic processes and protects the cells from aggressive oxygen compounds (free radicals).

What functions does vitamin C have in the body?

The positive effect of vitamin C on the immune system is particularly well known: the body needs the vitamin for a strong immune system. Ascorbic acid also promotes the absorption and utilisation of iron from plant-based foods. It is needed to produce bile acids and catecholamines such as noradrenaline and adrenaline. Vitamin C also intercepts cell-damaging oxygen compounds in the body - so-called "free radicals", which are produced during normal metabolic processes, but also by UV radiation, nicotine and medication. Vitamin C is also important for the formation of connective tissue (collagen) and for wound healing.
