ALLEVYN AG HEEL is an absorbent, antimicrobial foam dressing for the treatment of secondary-healing, chronic and acute deep, shallow and superficial granulating and exuding wounds in problem areas such as the heel, testicles, etc.

ALLEVYN AG HEEL is a highly absorbent, antimicrobial wound dressing. Its special shape facilitates easy dressing of problem areas such as the heel, elbow, amputation stumps, toes and testicles. The absorbent foam core with integrated silver supports the treatment of wounds at risk of infection and infected wounds with moderate to heavy exudation.

Mode of action

ALLEVYN Ag Heel can be used on infected wounds. If the product is used on infected wounds, the wounds should be treated in accordance with the relevant local treatment protocol. Contraindications Do not use in patients with a known hypersensitivity to silver sulphadiazine or sulphonamides. As sulphonamides are considered a possible cause of kernicterus, ALLEVYN Ag Heel should not be used in breastfeeding mothers, women at term or shortly before term, or in preterm or newborn infants during the first few months of life.

The dressing acts as an effective barrier against microbial contamination and protects the wound against invasive pathogenic microorganisms. This promotes faster healing. SSD is effective against microorganisms found in the dressing and in the wound. In the case of exuding wounds, the dressing helps to maintain an ideal moist wound environment.

Ingredients

Non-adhesive antimicrobial wound dressing made from polyurethane foam. ALLEVYN Ag Heel consists of an absorbent hydrocellular polyurethane foam containing silver sulphadiazine (SSD), which is sandwiched between a perforated, non-adherent wound-contact layer and a waterproof, breathable outer film.
