3M Tegaderm Alginate is a highly absorbent compress or tamponade made of sterile calcium alginate fibres. It is used as a primary wound dressing for heavily oozing, bedded or deeper ulcers.
Together with the wound exudate, the alginate forms a gelatinous layer, traps germs and cell debris and promotes autolytic wound cleansing.
