3M™ Tegaderm™ Absorbent is a unique, patented acrylic dressing with an adhesive edge for the treatment of slightly to moderately exuding wounds. The acrylic pad absorbs wound exudate but remains transparent for the duration of its wear, allowing controlled wound observation without changing the dressing.
The dressing can remain on the wound for considerably longer than 7 days.
Areas of application
- For slightly to moderately exuding, superficial to deep, acute and chronic wounds.
Properties
- Remains transparent, enables wound observation during the wearing period
- Absorbs significantly more exudate than hydrocolloids
- Absorbs via diffusion, no gel residue in the wound
- Very thin and smooth adhesive edge prevents premature rolling up of the edge in the event of strong shear forces (e.g. in restless patients)
- Hydrophilic, hypoallergenic adhesive of the adhesive edge sticks even in rather moist skin conditions
- Adhesive-free retaining tabs for perfect working with gloves
Dosage form
Wound dressing
Application
- Skin should be dry and free of grease
- Remove backing paper, transparency enables exact positioning over the wound, mould on without tension and press on well to achieve optimum adhesion of the adhesive edge to the skin
- Do not cut
- To remove, peel off flat over the skin or remove the adhesion by stretching flat over the adhesive edge (support the skin by pressing down)
- Tegaderm Absorbent can remain on the wound for more than 7 days, depending on the condition of the wound and the dressing
