The 3M™ ADAPTIC™ Wound Dressing is a sterile, non-adherent dressing designed for atraumatic wound care. It protects the wound and promotes healing without sticking to the wound bed.
The Adaptic Wound Dressing is a primary dressing consisting of a cellulose acetate mesh impregnated with a special petrolatum emulsion.
Features
- The Adaptic Wound Dressing’s unique cellulose acetate mesh protects newly forming tissue by minimising trauma during dressing changes.1
- The pore size of the Adaptic wound dressing allows exudate to pass freely through to the secondary dressing, thereby minimising the risk of exudate accumulation and maceration at the wound site. It also reduces the risk of tissue adhering to either the Adaptic wound dressing or the secondary dressing.1
Indications
The Adaptic wound dressing is indicated for dry to heavily exuding wounds, including second-degree burns, lacerations and abrasions, skin grafts, venous ulcers, pressure ulcers, torn nails, eczema, staple and suture lines, as well as surgical incisions and reconstructive procedures.
The Adaptic non-adherent wound dressing can be used on dry to heavily exuding wounds, such as:
- first- and second-degree burns
- Lacerations and abrasions
- Grafts
- Venous ulcers
- Pressure ulcers
- Nail extractions
- Eczema

- Wounds following surgical procedures and reconstructive surgery
