viola Chlamydia rapid test, 1 ST

Product information "viola Chlamydia rapid test"
viola Chlamydia rapid test is used to detect Chlamydia trachomatis, one of the three known species of the Chlamydia bacteria family. Infections with Chlamydia trachomatis are the most common sexually transmitted infections.

In Germany alone, the number of new infections is estimated at 300,000 to 500,000 per year. Younger adults (15-25 years), people with frequently changing sexual partners, sexual partners (also unnoticed and asymptomatic) of infected persons and newborns of infected mothers are most frequently affected. Infections without sexual contact (e.g. in swimming pools) are rare, but cannot be ruled out.

Chlamydia trachomatis infections often cause no symptoms, but can lead to complaints such as eye inflammation, arthritis and inflammation of the urinary tract.

Furthermore, untreated infections often lead to infertility and increase the risk of ectopic pregnancies and premature births.

It is particularly important to treat infections with Chlamydia trachomatis during pregnancy. Around 50% of infected mothers pass the infection on to their newborn baby. Common complications in newborns are conjunctivitis and pneumonia.

This test is suitable for sampling from the cervix, i.e. exclusively for use by women. In the event of an infection, it is recommended that the male (sexual) partner also undergoes a test and, if necessary, treatment.

Application
How is the test performed?

  • The sample is obtained by inserting a swab up to the cervix (end of the vaginal canal) where the swab is rotated for 30 seconds. The swab is then inserted into the sample container so that the sample is mixed with the buffer fluid. To do this, the swab must be pressed against the container walls and the bottom of the bottle.
  • After 5 minutes, squeeze the swab well, close the buffer bottle and shake.
  • Open the buffer bottle and apply 2 drops to the sample field on the test cassette.
  • The result can be read after 15 minutes.

What does the test result mean?

  • A sample is considered positive if two violet lines (at "C" and "T") appear within the reaction time of 15 minutes. If only one coloured line appears at "C" within the reaction time, the result is considered negative.
