herpotherm® neo is a patented medical device for the topical treatment of accompanying symptoms of herpes (herpes simplex labialis) such as pain, burning, itching, tingling or tightness. These so-called prodromal symptoms can already indicate a herpes outbreak before external signs appear. herpotherm® neo can prevent the formation of herpes blisters if used in good time. If used later, a milder course or earlier healing can be achieved.

Mode of action

The application of concentrated heat (localised thermotherapy) is a physical principle of action based on the brief, concentrated application of heat to a narrowly defined area of skin. Even a localised application of heat can be sufficient to alleviate symptoms such as itching, burning, tingling or tightness or, if applied in good time, to prevent the formation of herpes blisters. A clinical study with herpotherm® showed that the accompanying symptoms of herpes were significantly and clinically relevantly reduced for those affected by treatment with a heat impulse within 24 to 48 hours.

Treatment

The application of herpotherm® neo is very simple:

1. Remove the protective cap from the device.
2. Place the device with the ceramic contact surface on the affected skin area and press lightly.
3. After pressing the push button, the heating phase begins. During the heating phase, the ceramic contact surface is heated to a temperature of approx. 51 °C. As soon as this temperature is reached, the device heats up. As soon as this temperature is reached, treatment is carried out for 3 seconds. The LED lights up during treatment. The device switches off automatically after the treatment has been completed. An acoustic signal also sounds at the start of the heating phase and at the end of the treatment.
4. Remove the device from the treated skin area and replace the protective cap on the device.

If symptoms persist or recur, the same area of skin can be treated several times. Please take a treatment break of at least 2 minutes between each application. Direct subsequent treatment of another affected skin area on the lip is possible without any problems after the first treatment with herpotherm® neo.

Instructions for use

herpotherm® neo is indicated for self-treatment by adults and children aged 12 and over. Children under the age of 12 should only use the device with the support of an adult. Persons with limited ability to perceive the visual or acoustic signals of the device should be assisted by an adult during use.

Children under the age of 7 are often not yet able to understand the connection between a short heat treatment and its positive benefits. Therefore, please check carefully whether symptomatic treatment with herpotherm® neo is suitable for your child. Please also bear in mind that children's skin is still developing and can therefore react more sensitively to heat stimuli. Do not use the device on children under the age of 3.

Cleaning and disinfection:

• Herpes is a viral disease caused by the herpes simplex virus. It is transmitted by droplet infection, direct contact or smear infection. Infection with the herpes simplex virus cannot be reversed.
• To prevent virus transmission, herpo therm® neo may only be used by one person at a time.
• To clean the herpotherm® neo, all external surfaces can be wiped with a soft cloth slightly moistened with water. If the device is obviously dirty, it must be cleaned. To do this, use a soft cloth moistened with 70% isopropanol and wipe all external surfaces thoroughly until no more dirt is visible. Then dry them with a cloth.
• The herpotherm® neo must be disinfected after every herpes episode. It is also recommended to disinfect the device before using it again after a long period of non-use. To do this, moisten a soft cloth well with 70% isopropanol or use a conventional disinfectant wipe based on 70% isopropanol. Wipe the ceramic contact surface thoroughly with this cloth for 30 seconds. Allow the surface to air dry.
