Weleda Calendula Essence is diluted with water and used as a wound rinse for skin injuries. First aid for open wounds.

Calendula essence is used to clean and treat open wounds. If the edges of the wound are frayed or the wound is suppurating and healing poorly, calendula essence has a wound-cleansing effect. It counteracts infections and promotes the formation of new tissue. This accelerates wound healing. In the case of inflammation of the gums or oral mucosa, diluted calendula essence used as a mouthwash has a cleansing and healing effect. Application tip: The wound can heal quickly with the help of a wound dressing.

Areas of application

Local treatment of wounds and near-surface inflammation, also for delayed wound healing; for rinsing wound cavities; for inflammation of the oral mucosa.

Application

For wound dressings and irrigation:

Prepare a 2 - 4% solution in boiled water, which corresponds to 5-10 ml of calendula essence to 250 ml (1/4 litre) of boiled water. Soak a compress or a suitable cloth in the prepared solution and apply to the injured area. The compress is initially renewed every quarter to half an hour, later at longer intervals.
Rinse wound cavities 2-3 times a day with the prepared solution.

For mouth rinses:

Prepare a 2 - 3% solution in warm water, which corresponds to 2-3 ml of calendula essence to 100 ml of warm water
Rinse the oral cavity 2-3 times a day with the prepared solution.
For use on the skin and in the oral cavity. A measuring cup with graduation is included for dosage.

The other ingredients are: Purified water, ethanol 96%
