Vitaworld SAMe 400 mg capsules are a dietary supplement containing 400 mg S-adenosyl-L-methionine per capsule.
Although SAMe was discovered in 1952, its importance for adrenaline, serotonin and histamine metabolism has only been known for a few years. The abbreviation SAMe stands for S-adenosyl-L-methionine, a substance that plays a central role in the metabolism of the amino acid methionine. L-methionine is an essential amino acid, i.e. an amino acid that the body cannot produce itself but must absorb through food.
SAMe is produced by a reaction with adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and is important for numerous detoxification processes in the body and for enzyme metabolism. As a methyl group donor, SAMe influences the adrenaline, serotonin and histamine metabolism and is also required for the processing of fats, the so-called lipid metabolism, and as a neurotransmitter.
