Vitaworld Proline 500 mg capsules are a food supplement containing the free amino acid L-proline.
The amino acid proline is primarily required for the formation of collagen, the protein that makes up connective tissue, bones and cartilage. As a non-essential amino acid, proline can be produced by the body itself, but in certain situations the amount of proline that the human body produces itself from glutamic acid is not sufficient to cover the entire requirement.
The body also needs proline in order to produce hydroxyproline from it in combination with vitamin C. Hydroxyproline is an essential component of the structural proteins in elastin and collagen, which is irreplaceable for the flexibility and stability of connective tissue. With increasing age, the production of proline decreases more and more and the body no longer produces this non-essential amino acid in sufficient quantities.
