- Vitamin B1 is often referred to as the 'good mood vitamin'. This is due to its important role for the nervous system and the psyche. Thiamine also plays an important role in energy metabolism and heart function.
- Vitamin B2 is not only important for the normal function of the mucous membranes, but also for vision. Its relevance for the metabolism can be recognised, among other things, by the fact that it is partly responsible for reducing tiredness and fatigue.
- Niacin is found in all body cells and, like vitamin B12, is stored in the liver. It is important for the metabolism of proteins, fats and carbohydrates.
- Vitamin B5 plays an important role in energy metabolism. It is a component of an important enzyme - coenzyme A - and is therefore important for the breakdown of macronutrients, e.g. into amino acids and glucose. It is also jointly responsible for the synthesis of hormones, various messenger substances and vitamin D.
- Vitamin B6 acts as a cofactor for more than 100 enzymes and is involved in many processes of protein and fat metabolism. It is important for the immune system, the nervous system, homocysteine metabolism (vascular health) and for the formation of the red blood pigment haemoglobin, among other things.
- Vitamin B7 or biotin is also known as vitamin H or coenzyme R. It is important for normal mucous membranes, the nervous system and the psyche. Like most other B vitamins, it is also involved in energy metabolism.
- Vitamin B9 is better known as folic acid. It is a vitamin that is involved in cell division processes and haematopoiesis. Together with vitamin B12 and vitamin B6, it is involved in homocysteine metabolism (vascular health).
- Vitamin B12 is also known as cobalamin and is mainly found in animal foods. It contains the trace element cobalt as a central element. Vitamin B12 is important for the psyche, cell renewal, the immune system and healthy nerves. Together with folic acid and vitamin B6, vitamin B12 is also responsible for homocysteine metabolism (vascular health).
