From the age of 50, VIGANTOLVIT® Vitamin D3, K2 and Calcium tablets support bone health. The formula helps to counteract age-related mineral loss in women going through or past the menopause.

VIGANTOLVIT® Vitamin D3, K2 and Calcium contains a special combination of nutrients that helps maintain your bone health. It therefore helps you to stay active and enjoy the things you love.

VIGANTOLVIT® Vitamin D3, K2 and Calcium combines the following three essential nutrients

  • Vitamin D3
  • Vitamin K2
  • Calcium

Vitamins D3, K2 and calcium help maintain normal bones. Vitamin D3 and calcium also support normal muscle function. Furthermore, calcium and vitamin D3 help to reduce the loss of bone mineral density in postmenopausal women. This is particularly important for women aged 50 and over, as low bone density is a risk factor for osteoporosis-related fractures.

The beneficial effect is achieved with a daily intake of at least 1200 mg of calcium and 20 μg of vitamin D from all sources. There are many risk factors for osteoporosis-related fractures. Therefore, changing one of these factors may or may not have a positive effect.

Why is vitamin D so important?

Since the discovery of vitamin D in the early 20th century, we have known how important it is for maintaining normal bones. Over the past decade, even more functions have been discovered; for example, vitamin D helps maintain normal muscle function and plays a key role in the process of cell division. Vitamin D also contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system.

Vitamin D can be obtained from two sources:

  • the body’s own production (synthesis) of vitamin D3, which occurs when the skin is exposed to sunlight
  • foods containing vitamin D, such as oily fish, egg yolks, whole milk and mushrooms.

Why are vitamin D and calcium so important for women aged 50 and over?

The decline in oestrogen levels in women aged 50 and over affects bone metabolism, and bone density may decrease. Calcium and vitamin D help to reduce the loss of bone minerals in postmenopausal women. Low bone density is a risk factor for osteoporosis-related fractures.

Vitamin D3 and K2 – a powerful team for our bones

Vitamin D3 contributes to the normal absorption and utilisation of calcium, an essential component of our bones, whilst vitamin K2 plays a role in bone proteins and thus also supports the normal process of bone mineralisation. Vitamin K2 and vitamin D3 work together to help maintain normal bones.
