The wild Morinda citrifolia (noni) has been valued as an important foodstuff in Polynesia for centuries. Noni is an inseparable part of Polynesian culture, which is rich in stories about the fruit that the natives call the "fruit of the gods".
Noni capsules combine noni fruit juice concentrate with acerola powder. The acerola cherry is a shrub-like tree that is native to the Caribbean. Acerola cherries have a high vitamin C content. A special process is used to extract a dry powder containing up to 25 % natural vitamin C from the juice of these fruits.
Vitamin C is an essential vital substance that is very important for the entire organism. Among other things, vitamin C contributes to normal energy metabolism, the normal function of the nervous system and the immune system. It helps to protect cells from oxidative stress.
Our daily requirement of vitamin C is around 80 mg and would normally be covered by a balanced diet with plenty of vegetables and fresh fruit. However, unbalanced or incorrectly prepared food (e.g. overcooked), smoking, stress, physical exertion, adolescent growth, pregnancy and breastfeeding or reduced vitamin absorption capacity (e.g. in old age) can lead to an increased vitamin requirement.
