The Nutri Store Myrrh Rosehip Capsules are a dietary supplement with myrrh, rosehip and vitamins C and E. Each vegetarian capsule contains 1000 mg myrrh powder.
Myrrh is the gummy resin of Commiphora myrrha. This thorny shrub grows up to three metres high in the dry regions of tropical and subtropical Africa and Arabia. To obtain the gum resin, the bark of the trunk is scratched so that the liquid resin escapes. It hardens in the air and can then be collected in the form of light brown pieces. Myrrh was in great demand thousands of years ago and was traded over long distances. The gum resin travelled to Syria, China, India and Europe.
The resin tastes bitter and has an aromatic scent. As well as being used as an incense, it is also used as an additive in cosmetics and as a spice. Myrrh also plays an important role in Christian tradition: along with frankincense and gold, myrrh was one of the gifts given by the Magi from the Orient to the newborn baby Jesus.
Each vegan capsule contains 62.5 mg myrrh dry extract 4:1, corresponding to 250 mg myrrh powder, and 25 mg myrrh dry extract 25-30:1, corresponding to 750 mg myrrh powder, in a synergistic combination with rose hip powder and vitamins C and E. Vitamins C and E help to protect the cells from oxidative stress.
