The use of red rice has a very long tradition, especially in China. It is produced by fermenting ordinary rice with the red mould fungus Monascus purpureus. This produces red pigments that give the rice a red-purple colour. This process also produces other bioactive compounds such as monacolin K, a natural statin that is known to inhibit the coenzyme in the body that is partly responsible for the body's own production of cholesterol.

Cholesterol levels are influenced by many different factors, including a diet high in fibre and low in animal fats, which can support normal cholesterol levels.

Coenzyme Q10 can be produced by the body itself or taken in with food and is essential for mitochondrial energy metabolism in particular. The enzyme HMG-CoA reductase, which can be inhibited by taking statins, is required to synthesise coenzyme Q10. Supplementation of coenzyme Q10, in this case the branded raw material Kaneka ^Q10TM, is intended to prevent a functional deficiency of coenzyme Q10.

The formulation also contains other important vitamins that are useful in conjunction with the intake of statins. First and foremost is vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol), which among other things supports the normal function of the immune system and cannot be produced in sufficient quantities by the body in our latitudes, especially in the darker half of the year.

Vitamin B6, folic acid and vitamin B12 (as bioactive methylcobalamin) all support normal homocysteine metabolism. Homocysteine is produced in the body as an intermediate product during the metabolism of the essential amino acid methionine and is normally broken down again very quickly. The body needs vitamins B6, B12 and folic acid in particular so that homocysteine can be processed further.

Take 1 capsule per day with liquid.
Advice: Consume a maximum of 3 mg monacolins from red mould rice per day. The following persons should not consume the product: pregnant or breastfeeding women, children under 18 years of age and adults over 70 years of age. Do not consume the product if you are taking cholesterol-lowering medication or if you are already consuming other products containing red mould rice. Seek medical advice before consuming this product if you experience any health problems.
