RespoSorb® Silicone is a superabsorbent wound dressing with a silicone wound contact layer for atraumatic removal.
RespoSorb® Silicone is a wound dressing for the treatment of acute and chronic moderately to heavily exuding wounds. RespoSorb® Silicone consists of an absorbent dressing made of cellulose and superabsorbent polyacrylate, which can absorb and bind exudate. The wound side is covered with a fine-meshed silicone mesh, which makes it easy to apply the dressing and prevents it from sticking to the wound. The dressing carrier consists of a green, hydrophobic polypropylene fleece that is permeable to air and allows gas exchange.
Areas of application
RespoSorb® Silicone is suitable for the treatment of acute and chronic, moderately to heavily exuding wounds:
- Acute wounds (traumatic wounds, burns, post-operative wounds) and chronic wounds (ulcers, pressure ulcers, tumour wounds, diabetic foot syndrome).
Dosage form
Sterile wound dressing
Application
- Clean the wound with physiological saline solution or according to the doctor's instructions.
- Select the absorbent dressing according to the size of the wound so that it overlaps the edges of the wound by approx. 1-2 cm. Do not cut the absorbent dressing to size.
- After rinsing the wound and before applying the absorbent dressing, ensure that the area around the wound is dabbed dry with swabs so that the absorbent dressing adheres.
- Remove the protective film. Position the absorbent dressing with the adhesive side on the wound so that the green side is facing away from the wound.
- Secure the absorbent dressing e.g. with a Peha-haft fixation bandage or another suitable product or, if necessary, apply compression bandages according to the doctor's instructions.
- Depending on the condition of the wound and the applicable clinical protocol, the absorbent dressing can remain on the wound for up to 5 days. A dressing change is necessary if clinically indicated or if exudate reaches the edge of the absorbent dressing.
