RespoSorb® Silicone Border is a sterile, self-adhesive, super-absorbent wound dressing with a silicone wound-contact layer for the long-term management of moderately to heavily exuding wounds.
RespoSorb® Silicone Border is a sterile, self-adhesive, super-absorbent absorbent dressing with a silicone wound contact layer for the treatment of moderately to heavily exuding, chronic and acute wounds. Thanks to the silicone wound-contact layer, it is easy to apply and can be removed with minimal pain and in an atraumatic manner. The absorbent dressing absorbs and binds exudate.
RespoSorb® Silicone Border is a sterile, self-adhesive, super-absorbent, single-use absorbent dressing with a silicone wound-contact layer for the long-term treatment of damaged skin in acute and chronic wounds with moderate to high levels of exudate. The product is to be used exclusively by healthcare professionals on adults in clinical settings and in home care, and may be combined with local antiseptics and secondary wound dressings.
Dosage form

Directions for use
- Clean the wound with saline solution or as directed by a doctor.
- Select the absorbent pad to suit the size of the wound, ensuring that the central absorbent pad overlaps the edges of the wound by approximately 1–2 cm. Do not cut the green absorbent pad to size. The transparent border can be trimmed to adapt the absorbent dressing, for example, to a concave area of the body.
- After rinsing the wound and before applying the absorbent dressing, ensure that the surrounding skin is patted dry with swabs so that the absorbent dressing adheres properly.
- Peel off both protective films. Place the absorbent dressing with the adhesive side onto the wound so that the green side is facing away from the wound.
- Press the adhesive edges down firmly, taking care to avoid creases at the edges, to ensure that the absorbent dressing is securely fixed in place.
- No additional fixation is required. If indicated, compression dressings may be applied in accordance with the doctor’s instructions.
- Depending on the condition of the wound and the applicable clinical protocol, the absorbent dressing may remain on the wound for up to 5 days.
- The dressing must be changed when clinically indicated or when exudate reaches the edge of the absorbent wound dressing.
Composition
RespoSorb Silicone Border has a semi-permeable polyurethane film on the outer side of the dressing backing and a perforated silicone film on the side facing the wound. An absorbent pad is situated between these two layers. These layers are held together by acrylic adhesive. The film of the dressing backing is breathable but waterproof, allowing patients to shower. The perforated silicone film on the side facing the wound facilitates easy application of the absorbent pad and prevents it from sticking to the wound. The absorbent pad consists of cellulose and super-absorbent polyacrylate to absorb and bind exudate, and is encased in hydrophilic cellulose fabric. It is covered with a hydrophobic green non-woven fabric (100% polypropylene). The green side is always the side facing away from the wound. On the other side, the product features a very soft, white, hydrophilic non-woven fabric (viscose and polyamide).
