- Instillation in combination with the V.A.C. Ulta
- Loosens encrusted wound dressings and dressings before they are removed
- Prevents biofilm formation
- Creates an environment that promotes healing
- For repeated and long-term use
- Shelf life up to 8 weeks after opening
Chronic skin wounds are often covered with scabs, necrotic tissue and/or a biofilm. These coatings are difficult to remove and lead to delayed wound healing. The cleansing action of Prontosan® wound irrigation solution can remove these obstacles to wound healing. As acute wounds are generally contaminated with debris and micro-organisms, they also require thorough cleansing. These contaminants can hinder the normal wound healing process and lead to complications such as infection. The unique combination of ingredients (i.e. the antimicrobial substance polihexanide and the surfactant betaine) makes Prontosan® wound irrigation solution ideal for preventing the formation of a biofilm.

How to use
Prontosan® Wound Irrigation Solution (see separate product information) is intended for cleaning wounds prior to treatment with Prontosan® Wound Gel or Prontosan® Wound Gel X. Prontosan® Wound Irrigation Solution can be used to soak compresses, gauze cuttings or swabs for the cleaning process. To achieve and maintain a visibly clean wound, it should be used frequently. Prontosan® wound irrigation solution can be warmed to body temperature before use. Wound dressings and dressings are often encrusted and stick to the wound surface. Removing these dressings can damage the wound bed, which in turn delays wound healing. If dressings and bandages are difficult to remove due to incrustations, they should be soaked with Prontosan® wound irrigation solution until they are easy to remove.
Wound cleansing: The entire wound, including the area adjacent to it, should be carefully cleaned with Prontosan® Wound Irrigation Solution. For light and acute wounds, rinsing is sufficient. For large wounds and wounds that are difficult to access, it is recommended to moisten the affected area for at least 15 minutes with a compress soaked in Prontosan® Wound Irrigation Solution. The solution should be used undiluted.
