Innovative wound cleansing and moisturising for the best possible wound healing
While light coatings can be optimally removed with the Prontosan® wound irrigation solution, more heavily encrusted coatings appear more resistant during wound irrigation. In order to dissolve them, it is necessary to keep the coatings moist for a longer period of time. Prontosan® Wound Gel offers ideal conditions for this task.
Areas of application
Cleaning, decontamination and moisturising of:
- Acute wounds
- Chronic wounds (decubitus, ulcus cruris, diabetic foot syndrome)
- Post-operative problem wounds
- Thermal wounds, burns up to grade III
- Donor sites for skin transplants
- Palliative wounds
Preservative moisturisation of dressings and wound dressings
Dosage form
Clear, colourless and odourless, aqueous, fat-free hydrogel.
Application
- For optimum results, Prontosan® Wound Irrigation Solution should be used to cleanse the wound and the surrounding skin area before applying Prontosan® Wound Gel.
- Prontosan® Wound Gel should be applied liberally to the wound bed. Cavities and pockets should be filled with Prontosan® Wound Gel. Wound dressings, gauze cuttings, compresses or other absorbent materials can be moistened with Prontosan® Wound Gel before applying the dressing.
Prontosan® Wound Gel can be left on the wound until the next dressing change.
- Depending on the frequency of dressing changes, different amounts of Prontosan® Wound Gel are applied. The wound surface should be kept continuously moist to ensure adequate cleansing and disinfection. Deposits are gently loosened and removed with the next dressing change. Application should be frequent enough so that all debris and necrotic residues can be easily removed and the wound bed is optimally prepared.
