Prontosan® Wound Gel, 30 ml

The tried-and-tested Prontosan® Wound Gel cleans, moisturises and decontaminates a wide variety of wounds – from grazes and lacerations to pressure ulcers and diabetic ulcers. Its fluid consistency is ideal for deep wound cavities.

Whilst light deposits can be removed effectively with Prontosan® Wound Irrigation Solution, more heavily encrusted deposits appear to be more resistant to irrigation. To loosen them, it is necessary to keep the deposits moist for a longer period of time. Prontosan® Wound Gel offers ideal conditions for this task.

Indications

Cleaning, decontamination and moisturising of:

• Acute wounds
• Chronic wounds (pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, diabetic foot syndrome)
• Post-operative problem wounds
• Thermal wounds, burns up to Grade III
• Donor sites for skin grafts
• Palliative wounds

Maintenance of moisture in dressings and wound coverings

Dosage form

A clear, colourless and odourless, aqueous, oil-free hydrogel.

Directions for use

• For optimal results, Prontosan® Wound Irrigation Solution should be used to cleanse the wound and the surrounding skin area before applying Prontosan® Wound Gel.
• Prontosan® Wound Gel should be applied generously to the wound bed. Cavities and pockets should be filled with Prontosan® Wound Gel. Wound dressings, gauze pads, compresses or other absorbent materials may be moistened with Prontosan® Wound Gel before the dressing is applied.

Prontosan® Wound Gel can be left on the wound until the next dressing change.

• Different amounts of Prontosan® Wound Gel are applied depending on the frequency of dressing changes. The wound surface should be kept continuously moist to ensure adequate cleansing and disinfection. Debris is gently loosened and removed during the next dressing change. The gel should be applied frequently enough to ensure that all debris and necrotic residues can be easily removed and the wound bed is optimally prepared.

Ingredients

Composition: Purified water, glycerol, hydroxyethylcellulose, 0.1% betaine surfactant, 0.1% polyaminopropyl biguanide (polihexanide).
