Dosage form
Use
- For use in dairy cows with a negative energy balance in the period before and after calving, for 3 to 6 weeks.
- Dairy cows: Use 1 cartridge per cow daily. In cases of severe weight loss, use 2 cartridges daily. Follow-up treatment for acute ketosis: Use 2 cartridges daily for 3–4 days.
- Ewes: Use ½ cartridge twice daily for 3–4 days. Administer during the last 6 weeks before and the first 3 weeks after lambing.
- Notes: When administering calcium or sodium propionate towards the end of pregnancy, the mineral balance must be assessed in relation to the risk of hypocalcaemia following birth. It is recommended that veterinary advice be sought prior to use.
- Administration instructions: Administer only to cows with a clear swallowing reflex. Care must be taken not to injure the throat during administration. Cut off the cartridge cap with a knife and insert the cartridge into the dosing gun. Screw on the dosing extension and insert it into the mouth from the side, along the tongue. Empty the contents so that the animal can swallow them. Once the cartridge has been emptied, carefully withdraw it from the throat.
