Indian sandalwood essential oil (bot. Santalum album) has a woody, warm and balsamic scent. Its extraordinary fragrance, applied to the skin, promotes inspiration and fires the imagination. It is a real balm for the soul. The scent of sandalwood accompanies stressful situations and is very calming for body, mind and soul. The main ingredients are santalols (alpha- and beta-sanatalol), which contribute to the effect of sandalwood. When applied to the skin, it can have a balancing and regenerating effect and help to relieve itching. Sandalwood is a helpful additive in skin care products for problem skin. Sandalwood adds an aphrodisiac note to sensual massage oil blends. Sandalwood is also very popular in men's fragrances. A typical sandalwood note often only requires a hint of the essential oil, which is why we offer the valuable oil both pure and dissolved in jojoba oil.

Sandalwood oil from India is a very popular fragrance for the perfume industry and is also indispensable in aromatherapy. The worldwide demand exceeds the natural stock of sandalwood trees in the country of origin, India, many times over. Due to the high demand, the trees are threatened with extinction and overexploitation cannot be ruled out. Although there are regulations and measures to protect the stock, it is very difficult and unsafe to obtain sandalwood oil with a traceable origin. PRIMAVERA has therefore decided to purchase the essential oil from a mixed cultivation in Australia with a transparent origin and no more sandalwood from India. The first cultivation areas in the tropical north of Australia were established in 1999, when the first sandalwood trees were planted from Indian Santalum album seeds. The medium-sized trees are semi-parasitic, which means that they are dependent on nearby "host trees" to obtain the relevant nutrients via their roots. In addition to the right climate, this is the prerequisite for getting as close as possible to the original conditions so that the trees can be cultivated. The trees grow for at least 15 years until they reach maturity. In the centre of the tree is the "heartwood sandalwood oil is mainly extracted. The heartwood is then steam distilled on site.
