Melissa, also known as lemon balm, is a perennial herbaceous plant that smells of lemons and prefers temperate, warm climates. Lemon balm grows up to 1 metre tall, has small white flowers and strongly scented egg-shaped leaves. Lemon balm is also popularly known as immense leaf or honey flower. In naturopathy, lemon balm is used to treat skin, respiratory and stomach complaints as well as tension and insomnia.
