The mandarin is a small evergreen citrus tree; the green mandarin is harvested when the fruit is still slightly unripe. Mandarins are smaller than orange fruits and have a characteristically sweet flavour; they are harvested from October to January. Mandarins are used in perfumery and cosmetics as well as for food flavouring.
