Jasmine is a climbing shrub with star-shaped, white flowers that originated in the Himalayas and China and is now cultivated in many sunny and hot urban areas. Jasmine can grow over 10 metres high. In India it is called "moonlight in the grove". For thousands of years, fragrances and flavourings have been extracted from jasmine in China and the Orient, for example for tea flavouring or as perfume oils. Jasmine is one of the indispensable ingredients and heart notes in perfumery.
