PalatinoseTM (isomaltulose) is mainly obtained from sugar beet and consists of glucose and fructose. The particular advantage of this sugar is that it is completely absorbed and digested. In contrast to other types of sugar, isomaltulose is broken down much more slowly in the small intestine, which means that the blood sugar level does not rise as quickly or as strongly. Another advantage of this sugar is that it has been categorised as tooth-friendly by both the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

The pastilles also contain the well-known glucose, also known as dextrose.
