Maca - resilient plant with a rich tuber

Maca is the tuberous root of a Peruvian cress plant and is considered a veritable superfood in the Andes. Maca is also known as "Peruvian ginseng". Over 60 vital substances characterise this valuable tuber. Various vitamins, trace elements and secondary plant substances make maca a real power plant. In the Andes, the Indians feed on this valuable plant, which defies wind, weather and UV radiation at altitudes of over 4,000 metres. Maca belongs to the so-called cress family, which also impresses in our climes with its many valuable ingredients. Maca contains calcium, zinc, iron, copper, manganese and iodine, among other things. A naturally pure, nutritious plant powder

The maca plant forms so-called hypocotyl tubers, which are located directly below the soil surface and contain a supply of nutrients, protective substances and secondary plant substances. Hypocotyl tubers are nothing exotic, you know them for example as radishes or beetroot.

The tubers of the maca plant are first dried for several weeks, then gently cleaned and cut into small pieces to release any remaining moisture in a further drying phase. Drying takes place exclusively by evaporation of the water content. No mechanical drying is used, as valuable ingredients are also lost during pressing or centrifuging. Chemical drying using hygroscopic substances is of course also out of the question.

The dried raw material is then processed into a powder. Here, too, strict controls ensure that a natural organic product with many valuable ingredients is created.
