Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) belongs to the legume family (Fabaceae). Kneipp praised the drug in the highest terms: "Foenum graecum is the best of all remedies known to me for dissolving tumours and ulcers.". It is known that a fatty oil containing linolenic, palmitic, linoleic and oleic acids, which contain lecithin and phytosterol, mucilage, vitamins A and D, phosphorus and choline, can be extracted from the seeds of fenugreek.
