Essential electrolytes – for vital bodily functions

Electrolytes are electrically charged minerals that are dissolved in all our bodily fluids – including blood, sweat and urine. Due to their electrical charge, they have the ability, amongst other things, to bind water or transmit signals within the nervous system. Electrolytes are therefore involved in numerous vital functions within the body: they regulate our fluid balance and blood pressure, control muscle and nerve function, and are essential for metabolism and acid-base balance. Electrolyte loss is particularly high in cases of watery diarrhoea or heavy sweating. OMNi-BiOTiC® ViTAL Electrolyte Complex is a refreshing, apple-flavoured drink that specifically replenishes the essential electrolytes potassium, chloride, calcium, magnesium and sodium.

Sodium and glucose – a ‘boost’ for water intake

In the event of watery stools, the body loses not only electrolytes but also large amounts of water – making adequate fluid intake all the more important. The sodium and glucose contained in OMNi-BiOTiC® ViTAL Electrolyte Complex promote the absorption of water from the gut – via a sophisticated mechanism. Together, they are actively transported from the interior of the intestine into the cells of the intestinal wall with the help of a special protein (sodium-glucose cotransporter) and from there carried on into the blood. This increases the concentration of dissolved substances in the blood. In accordance with the principle of osmosis, which ensures that differences in concentration are equalised, a pull is created that causes water to flow from the interior of the intestine through the intestinal wall towards the higher concentration – that is, into the tissue and the bloodstream. In this way, sodium and glucose support the rapid and efficient supply of water to the body (rehydration) and promote the thickening of the intestinal contents and, consequently, the stools.

Lactobacillus gasseri CP2305 – postbiotic component

When digestion is accelerated, our stools have a high water content, as the intestinal contents have been transported out of the body more quickly than usual. This not only leaves too little time to extract sufficient nutrients from the chyme as it passes through the gut, but also means that the stool is not thickened. Directions for use

Adults: Dissolve the contents of one sachet in exactly 500 ml of water. Adhere strictly to the mixing ratio. Prepare the solution immediately before use. The prepared solution can be stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
