OMNi-BiOTiC® ViTAL Butyrate 500 has been developed for people who wish to specifically supplement their butyrate intake.

Butyrate – the salt of butyric acid – is a fundamental short-chain fatty acid and one of the most important metabolic products of the gut flora. Essential gut bacteria produce butyrate in the large intestine during the breakdown of dietary fibre. Butyrate has been the focus of research for years, particularly due to its importance for the intestinal barrier, the immune system and the gut-brain axis.

Butyrate supports the vital connections between gut cells – known as tight junctions. If the barrier is permeable, harmful substances from food – such as colourings, preservatives, etc. – can pass from the gut into the bloodstream and even reach the brain. Research findings also suggest that butyrate is involved in mechanisms that regulate inflammatory processes and can have a positive influence on cognitive functions such as concentration and memory, as well as emotional wellbeing.

OMNi-BiOTiC® ViTAL Butyrate 500 provides microencapsulated sodium butyrate. The protective coating preserves the butyrate as it passes through the digestive tract and ensures it is only released in the large intestine. In this way, butyrate is delivered specifically to where it is naturally produced and fulfils its physiological function. At the same time, the microencapsulation neutralises the intense odour and taste typical of butyric acid.

Butyrate helps the intestinal mucosa to fulfil its natural barrier function. Directions for use

• Take 1 capsule once a day, whole, with a meal and plenty of liquid. The daily dose can, of course, be gradually increased to 1 capsule three times a day.
• Our tip: To ensure better tolerance, we recommend gradually increasing the dose by 1 capsule every 7 days up to the maximum recommended intake of 3 x 1 capsule daily.
