Mexalen® Duo 200 mg/500 mg film-coated tablets, 20 ST

Mexalen® Duo 200 mg/500 mg film-coated tablets are an over-the-counter medicine containing the active ingredients ibuprofen and paracetamol. For the short-term treatment of mild to moderate pain in adults aged 18 years and over.

Mexalen Duo contains the active ingredients ibuprofen and paracetamol. Ibuprofen belongs to a group of medicines known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Paracetamol works in a different way to ibuprofen, but together the two active ingredients help to reduce pain. 

Mexalen Duo is used for the short-term symptomatic treatment of mild to moderate pain. Mexalen Duo is particularly suitable for pain that cannot be relieved by taking ibuprofen or paracetamol alone. 

Mexalen Duo is intended for use in adults aged 18 years and over.

Directions for use

• Adults: The recommended dose is 1 film-coated tablet with a glass of water, up to 3 times a day. Allow at least 6 hours between doses. Do not take more than six film-coated tablets in a 24-hour period (equivalent to 3,000 mg of paracetamol and 1,200 mg of ibuprofen per day). In the event of an overdose (more than 2,000 mg per day), liver and kidney damage cannot be ruled out. It is recommended that Mexalen Duo be taken with a meal to reduce the risk of side effects affecting the stomach and intestines.
• Use in children and adolescents: Mexalen Duo must not be taken by children and adolescents under 18 years of age.
• Method of administration: For oral use and for short-term treatment only. Do not take this medicine for longer than 3 days. If your symptoms persist or worsen, consult your doctor.
• Duration of use: Always take this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or exactly as instructed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure. Do not take for longer than 3 days.

Ingredients

• What Mexalen Duo contains – The active ingredients are: ibuprofen and paracetamol. Each film-coated tablet contains 200 mg of ibuprofen and 500 mg of paracetamol. 
• The other ingredients are: Tablet core: maize starch, crospovidone (type A) (E1202), highly dispersed silicon dioxide (E551), povidone K30 (E1201), pregelatinised starch (maize), talc (E553b), stearic acid Film coating: poly(vinyl alcohol) (E1203), talc (E553b), macrogol 3350 (E1521), titanium dioxide (E171).
