- Omega-3 fatty acids and their close relatives, the omega-6 fatty acids, belong to the so-called polyunsaturated fatty acids. In contrast to saturated fatty acids (e.g. in butter), they cannot assume a solid structure at room temperature, but are always present in liquid oil form.
- The incorporation of polyunsaturated fatty acids, especially docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), into the cell membrane supports this property and plays a vital role for the nerve cells in our brain, among other things. There, new connections between nerve cells have to be made constantly, which can only work with mobile and flexible cell membranes.
- Our eyes also need DHA in order to store the visual pigments in the retina and thus enable the visual process.
- The microalgae Schizochytrium sp. naturally produces omega-3 fatty acids, of which DHA makes up the largest proportion. They are at the top of the marine food chain and supply fish, for example, with these important fatty acids.
- To produce high-quality algae oil, the microalgae are cultivated in large facilities under controlled conditions and processed into DHA-rich algae oil using special extraction processes. The use of microalgae protects the fish population in the oceans and minimises pollution.

- Advice: The product may have a laxative effect if consumed in excess.
