Directions for use
- Wash your hands thoroughly with drinking-quality water and soap before touching the breast shield and your breast. Dry your hands with a clean towel or a disposable paper towel.Clean the breast and the surrounding area with a damp cloth. Do not use soap or alcohol, as this can cause dry skin and cracked nipples.
- Moisten the breast shield with water to help it adhere better to the skin (see Figure 1).
- Turn the tip almost all the way round and hold the flaps of the breast shield (see Figure 2).
- Place the breast shield centrally over the nipple (see Figure 3). During breastfeeding, the indentation should be pointing towards the baby’s nose.
Choosing the right breast shield size:
- When choosing the right nipple shield size, you need to consider both the mother and the baby.
- For the mother:I The breast shield should fit comfortably without causing any pressure.
- For a preterm baby:I When latching onto the breast shield, the infant’s lips must be able to reach the flat base of the shield against the breast.
