Louis Widmer Keratosis Cream is a topical skin medication for localised application to the affected areas. At this dosage, carbamide (urea) softens and exfoliates the outermost layer of the skin, which has thickened due to an excessive build-up of keratinocytes (stratum corneum). It increases the skin’s ability to absorb water and has a mild antiseptic effect. The choice of a deep-penetrating water/oil emulsion as the cream base enhances the product’s effectiveness.
Louis Widmer Keratosis Cream is used for:
- mild cases of skin keratinisation disorders (hyperkeratosis);
- mild forms of hereditary keratinisation disorders of the skin (ichthyosis vulgaris and congenita, fish-scale disease);
- keratinisation disorders at the hair roots (follicular hyperkeratosis);
- dry skin (xerosis cutis, craquelé eczema).
Louis Widmer Keratosis Cream is used both for initial treatment and to prevent the recurrence of symptoms. It can also be used for intermittent therapy during breaks from treatment with preparations containing vitamin A acid (e.g. Keratosis + Tretinoin Cream Widmer).
If you do not feel any better after 4 days, or if your condition worsens, consult your doctor.

Directions for use
- Method of use: Louis Widmer Keratosis Cream is a cream for application to the skin. It must only be used externally. Initially, the cream should be applied 1 to 2 times a day to the affected areas, which have been cleansed with water and dried, and massaged in thoroughly. Where possible, tight-fitting dressings (occlusive dressings) should be used, particularly on areas with a thick stratum corneum (e.g. on the hands and feet).
- To prevent the symptoms from recurring, the cream should be applied twice a week; more frequently if necessary.
- Duration of treatment: The duration of treatment depends on the type and severity of the condition.
