Lioton®1000 IU/g gel is a heparin gel for adults for the supportive treatment of acute swelling, after blunt injuries such as bruises or sports injuries and superficial phlebitis, if these cannot be treated with compression.

Lioton Gel contains a high concentration of heparin sodium salt as the active ingredient. Heparin has a local, anticoagulant (antithrombotic) effect. It improves blood circulation in the treated area and eliminates swelling. This results in rapid pain relief. It penetrates the skin quickly and supports the healing process in the diseased tissue in the long term.

Dosage form

Directions for use

Adults: The recommended dose is one 10 cm long strand of gel 2 to 3 times a day. This should be applied to the affected areas of skin and gently massaged in until the gel disappears. Treatment for up to 10 days is recommended for acute swelling following blunt injuries and for approx. 1 to 2 weeks for superficial phlebitis.
Use in children and adolescents: Use in children and adolescents is not recommended as no studies have been carried out on this patient group.

Ingredients

The active ingredient is: heparin sodium
The other ingredients are: purified water, ethanol 96%, carbomer, trolamine, neroli fragrance (contains linalool, D-limonene, geraniol, citral, citronellol and farnesol), lavandin oil (contains linalool, D-limonene, geraniol and coumarin); methyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (E218) and propyl 4-hydroxybenzoate (E216) as preservatives.
