Specially developed for the treatment of sacral wounds: The sterile Hydrocoll® sacral hydrocolloid dressing (12x18 cm) reliably protects the wound, absorbs exudate and supports rapid healing. Ideal for professional wound care.

The specific cut is used for the treatment of decubital ulcerations in the sacral area

Absorbent, self-adhesive hydrocolloid dressing with semi-permeable, germ-proof top layer, creates a moist wound environment by gel conversion of the hydrocolloid dressing components, whereby the gel remains absorbent until the hydrocolloids are saturated, promotes granulation and epithelialisation without removing wound irritation, available in various designs and cuts

The side facing the wound is protected by release liners made of silicone paper and/or PET film. The primary packaging consists of a peel pack in a film-film composite.

Hydrocoll is a medical device without an active ingredient. It contains no medicinal products, no tissue or cell material of human or animal origin and no nanomaterials. The product is radiation sterilised.

How to use

  • Select Hydrocoll in the correct size and shape. To ensure a secure fit, the dressing should extend at least one centimetre beyond the edges of the wound. If necessary, cut the dressing with sterile scissors according to the wound size.
  • Hydrocoll / Hydrocoll thin: Remove the protective paper from the back, position Hydrocoll on the wound, push the edges into place and press on.
  • Hydrocoll sacral: Remove the protective paper from the backing and press the dressing into the gluteal cleft. The tip of the dressing can point upwards or downwards (depending on the location and depth of the ulcer). Press the edges firmly into place.
  • Hydrocoll concave for heel and elbow: Remove most of the protective paper from the backing, position the centre of the Hydrocoll dressing over the wound, remove the rest of the protective paper, then overlap the wings until the dressing fits.
  • Exudate absorption will cause a whitish gel to form, which will be visible on the top as discolouration and blistering. Hydrocoll should be changed when the blister has spread almost to the edge of the dressing. If exudate leaks from the dressing, it must be changed immediately. To change the dressing, gently loosen Hydrocoll at the edges and carefully peel off the entire dressing.
  • A layer of hydrocolloid gel may remain on the wound. This does not impair wound healing and can be washed off if necessary.
  • The duration of the dressing depends on the condition of the wound and the amount of exudate. Depending on this, the dressing can remain on the wound for up to 7 days.
  • Contraindications: Hydrocoll should not be used if there is a hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients. Hydrocoll must not be applied to wounds affecting muscle, tendon or bone tissue. The product must not be applied if there is a clinical infection, nor to 3rd degree burns.
