HydroTac® is a sterile foam dressing with a mesh-like hydrogel layer. The absorbent foam absorbs excess exudate and keeps the wound moist. The hydrogel promotes granulation and epithelialisation.
A foam dressing with a mesh-like hydrogel layer on the wound side and a water-vapour-permeable, liquid- and microbe-impermeable polyurethane cover film; the absorbent foam rapidly absorbs excess wound exudate without drying out the wound; for relatively dry wounds, the hydrogel releases moisture and helps to establish and maintain a moist wound environment, thereby promoting granulation and epithelialisation, The wound dressing is soft and supple, provides good cushioning and can be removed with minimal discomfort; also available with an adhesive border.
The light self-adhesive effect makes it easier to use as it adheres initially to the skin; for long-term fixation, suitable products should be used, such as hypoallergenic adhesive plasters or dressings.
Indications
- For the treatment of low to moderately exuding wounds in the granulation and epithelialisation phases, e.g. in cases of leg ulcers, diabetic foot syndrome and pressure ulcers, for the management of burns up to Grade 2a, and for the treatment of split-thickness skin graft donor sites following adequate haemostasis.
Properties and mode of action
The structure of HydroTac allows it to absorb wound exudate and release moisture. This creates the necessary moist wound environment, which stimulates wound healing. The gel on the wound side prevents the dressing from sticking to the wound. It enables atraumatic dressing changes. As HydroTac Comfort/HydroTac Sacral/HydroTac Border Multisite feature an all-round adhesive border, no additional materials are required for securing the dressing.
Dosage form
Foam dressing, sterile
Application
- Select a dressing size such that the wound pad overlaps the wound edges by approximately 1–2 cm, depending on the condition of the surrounding skin. If necessary, HydroTac/HydroTac concave can be cut to the desired size; only sterile scissors should be used for this. The surrounding skin should be dry and free from surface oils and dirt before products with an all-round adhesive border are applied.
- HydroTac can remain on the wound for up to seven days.
- To change the dressing, gently loosen HydroTac at one corner and peel it off carefully to avoid skin stripping (removal of the top layer of skin).
Ingredients
