HydroClean® is a wound dressing pre-moistened with Ringer's solution to promote wound healing in a moist environment. Ideal for chronic wounds, burns and post-operative wounds.
HydroClean® releases Ringer's solution into the wound for up to three days. As the wound dressing simultaneously absorbs wound exudate, interactive and continuous wound irrigation begins.
HydroClean® is a hydroactive wound dressing that contains a superabsorbent polyacrylate (SAP) embedded in cellulose and cellulose fibres as its central component, which is activated (moistened) with Ringer's solution. The wound contact layer consists of a knitted polypropylene fabric to which silicone strips have been applied. The wound contact layer and the silicone strips prevent adhesion to the wound. On the side facing away from the wound, a water-impermeable polypropylene film together with a coating of hydrophobic non-woven polypropylene prevents the wound pad from drying out prematurely, so that moisture can be released into the wound for up to three days. At the same time, the film largely prevents the dressing from becoming moist.
Properties and mode of action
HydroClean® releases Ringer's solution to the wound for up to three days. As the wound dressing simultaneously absorbs wound exudate, an interactive and continuous wound irrigation is initiated. The SAP used in HydroClean inactivates matrix metallo-proteases (MMPs) that inhibit wound healing.
Areas of application
HydroClean® is indicated for the wet therapy of dry, slightly and moderately weeping wounds, especially wounds with an impaired healing tendency. The product is particularly suitable for the treatment of chronic and hard-to-heal wounds in the cleansing and granulation phase.

Application
The packaging and dressing should be checked for damage. If damage is found, HydroClean should not be used. Before opening, check the product packaging carefully for damage. In particular, check the integrity of the packaging surfaces and the entire sealing surfaces completely under suitable lighting conditions (white light or daylight). Do not use the product if there are visible signs of damage, e.g. tears, tunnels, puncture holes or uneven, detached, torn or incomplete seals. The dressing should be changed in accordance with current medical standards. In particular, it should be carried out under aseptic conditions. The white side of the dressing applied to the wound must therefore not come into contact with non-sterile hands/gloves or instruments. The wound pad should not be squeezed out before application. HydroClean is placed with the white side on the wound so that the blue labelling is facing upwards. HydroClean must be in contact with the wound bed and should overlap the wound edge. Deep wounds can be tamponaded with HydroClean Cavity and covered with HydroClean. HydroClean should be fixed with suitable materials. HydroClean is also suitable for use under compression bandages or stockings. The dressing must be changed when medically indicated or after three days at the latest. A dressing change is indicated when the absorption capacity is exhausted or the dressing dries out prematurely. In most cases, HydroClean can be removed from the wound without causing additional pain. If the wound pad sticks to the wound, the dressing can be rinsed with a sterile physiological saline or Ringer's solution before removal to loosen the adhesion.
