How Helo-Acid works in cases of acid deficiency

The effect of Helo-Acid is based on the digestion-promoting properties of organic fruit acids and lactic acid, and the digestive power of a gastric enzyme.

They fulfil the various functions of natural gastric juice, particularly the breakdown of food and the protection of the stomach. Furthermore, Helo-Acid can have a positive effect on the stomach’s own acid production.

Helo-Acid must not be taken in cases of hypersecretory irritable stomach or pyloric stenosis.

What are the causes of low stomach acid?

• Causes of low stomach acid (achylia) can include surgical procedures, advancing age, chronic gastritis, stress or the long-term use of acid-suppressing medication.

What are the symptoms of low stomach acid?

• Stomach acid is often mistakenly associated with negative side effects. In fact, the stomach acid produced by the stomach lining plays a vital role in breaking down food and releasing all nutrients, such as trace elements and vitamins. Furthermore, the acidity kills off most of the unwanted bacteria present in food.
• It is not only too much stomach acid, but also a lack of it, that can cause unpleasant symptoms: digestive problems, flatulence, deficiency symptoms (e.g. of vitamin B12), a feeling of fullness and pressure in the stomach.

Directions for use

• Adults: To be taken orally with liquid during meals to aid digestion in cases of low stomach acid and fermentation. It is best to take 1 capsule in the morning, 2 capsules at lunchtime and 2 capsules in the evening, without removing the capsule shell.
• Notes: Taking so-called ‘alkaline powders’ at the same time may reduce the product’s effectiveness.

Ingredients

• Ingredients: Citric acid, tartaric acid, capsule shell: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, bulking agent: microcrystalline cellulose, calcium lactate, pepsin, anti-caking agents: magnesium salts of fatty acids, silicon dioxide.
• The total acid content of one Helo-Acid capsule is roughly equivalent to 34 ml of 0.1 N HCl.
• Composition per capsule: citric acid 120 mg, tartaric acid 100 mg, lactic acid from calcium lactate 22 mg, pepsin 8.2 mg.
