L-glutathione is a tripeptide consisting of the three amino acids L-glutamine, L-cysteine and glycine. It is one of the strongest and most widespread antioxidants in nature. Functionally, it belongs to the sulphur-containing group of amino acids together with L-cysteine, L-cystine, L-methionine and taurine. Its active form is the "reduced" form (G-SH). It is important for the vitality and functionality of the cell. With a balanced diet, the body can cover its need for L-glutathione, especially from fresh vegetables, fruit and meat. In the event of stress, such as that associated with an illness, an additional intake may be advisable.
