Gall Pharma Vitamin A Capsules is a food supplement with 800 µg vitamin A per capsule. Vitamin A can prevent visual impairment, promotes healthy skin, hair and nails and helps to improve the quality of vision at night.
Vitamin A is one of the fat-soluble vitamins. Vitamins have a variety of functions in our body and must be supplied through a balanced diet. Vitamins are essential for health, growth and various metabolic processes. The following foods are particularly rich in vitamin A: Liver, egg yolk, cod liver oil, milk and dairy products. Vitamin A and its precursor are also found in vegetables (spinach, broccoli, carrots, beans, corn). Vitamin A can also be formed to a small extent from beta-carotene, which is found in various plants. The vitamin A in animal foods is called retinol.
This vitamin has the following functions:
- Vitamin A plays an important role in the visual process, as it is involved in the formation of visual purple, which makes it possible to see in dim light. If sufficient vitamin A reserves are not available, vision may be impaired at dusk or in the dark. Vitamin A is also important for the normal condition and function of the skin and mucous membranes, hair and fingernails.
- A lack of vitamin A leads to a reduction in visual performance, increased sensitivity to light, reduced twilight vision, increasing night blindness; dehydration and thus changes to the cornea and conjunctiva can be the consequences.
- Supplementation with vitamin A is advisable if the intake of vitamin A from food is too low (e.g. vegetarians), if the eyes are strained, e.g. by a lot of screen work or frequent driving at night, during pregnancy and breastfeeding and in the case of some skin diseases.
