These proteinase inhibitors are natural substances in plants that repel insects. Hormones and neurotransmitters are responsible for the process of controlling hunger and satiety. Cholecystokinin (CCK) is a key hormone that is partly responsible for digestion in the small intestine and for satiety. It is mainly released after the consumption of high-fat food, reduces stomach movement and delays gastric emptying. The result is satiety. Researchers have discovered that an increase in CCK levels can be triggered by protease inhibitors, so that a feeling of fullness occurs sooner.
