Marshmallow syrup, colloquially known as ‘cough herb’ or ‘mucilage root’, has been renowned since ancient times for its mucilage. This mucilage is found in the flowers, leaves and roots, and is what makes the plant so valuable. This beautifully flowering plant is not only found in our gardens, but is also very popular in our kitchens as a well-known home remedy.
