Deficiency symptoms manifest as reduced bone growth and a decrease in enzyme activity. Manganese contributes to normal energy metabolism and also helps to protect cells from oxidative stress. In this formulation, manganese is present in chelated form. This allows the manganese to reach the gut undamaged and be absorbed into the cells. This increases the amount of manganese absorbed and improves tolerability.
