Gall Pharma Lycopene 3 mg capsules are a food supplement with 3 mg lycopene per capsule, a natural antioxidant, from tomatoes and the antioxidant vitamins C, E, beta-carotene and the trace element selenium.
Lycopene 3 mg GPH capsules contain 3 mg lycopene, 3 mg beta-carotene, 10 mg vitamin E, 75 mg vitamin C, 25 μg selenium in soya oil in a soft gelatine capsule. Lycopene has a similar structure to carotenoids. It consists of a long chain of double bonds and therefore has excellent antioxidant properties. As an antioxidant, lycopene neutralises free radicals and therefore protects cells from oxidative damage. Together with beta-carotene, lycopene also plays a role in protecting the skin from damaging UV rays.
- Lycopene is a red pigment that gives many vegetables and fruits their typical appearance and colour. Tomatoes, rosehips, watermelons and pink grapefruits are particularly rich in lycopene. However, the main source of lycopene is the tomato. Fat increases the bioavailability of lycopene for the human body. The recommended daily intake is between 5 and 10 mg.
