Gall Pharma Lutein plus Bilberry Extract Capsules are a food supplement with 6 mg lutein, 350 mg bilberry extract and 360 μg zeaxanthin. This combination supports eye health and protects against free radicals.
A small part of the retina, the macula lutea (yellow spot), is particularly important for sharp vision. Lutein and zeaxanthin are found in particularly high concentrations in the yellow spot. Lutein is thought to protect the eye from light damage by absorbing blue light before it reaches the photoreceptors. Polyphenols and anthocyanins, the typical ingredients (colouring agents) of blueberries, have a protective effect on the eye. They support the eye by helping it to see at dusk and reduce fatigue.
- Lutein belongs to the carotenoid group. Just as beta-carotene, as provitamin A, is of central importance for vision and the entire metabolism, lutein and zeaxanthin also play an important role for the eye.
