Gall Pharma Lutein Capsules are a dietary supplement containing 6 mg of the carotenoid lutein per capsule. They help prevent age-related eye conditions, protect against free radicals and support visual acuity.
Lutein belongs to the group of carotenoids. Just as beta-carotene, as a provitamin A, is of central importance for eyesight and overall metabolism, lutein and zeaxanthin also play an important role in eye health. The yellow carotenoid lutein is found in particularly high concentrations in the human eye. It is believed that lutein protects the photoreceptor cells in the retina from damage caused by blue light and free radicals, thereby supporting healthy vision. Lutein is found in all green leafy vegetables as well as in various types of fruit.
The yellow carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin protect the eye from damage caused by (sun)light. Lutein and zeaxanthin are found in particularly high concentrations in the macula, in the retina of the eye. These two carotenoids are selectively concentrated in the macula. Lutein ensures sharp vision in the macula. There is evidence to suggest that it protects the sensory cells of the retina (photoreceptors) from light-induced damage, which is primarily caused by free radicals. Lutein absorbs blue light before it reaches the photoreceptors. This prevents the formation of free radicals that damage the retina. Lutein therefore reduces the risk of age-related eye diseases such as age-related macular degeneration, etc.
